What’s Up With Your Retirement Funds?

It’s no secret that everybody’s retirement plan has taken a big hit recently - and I do mean EVERYBODY’S. Unless you’ve been living on the moon, with investments on some other planet, your IRA or 401K has probably lost a pretty significant percentage of it’s value in the last few weeks.

Nonetheless, I want to encourage you.

You see, what you, and me, and all of us need to remember is this. The American economy, current events notwithstanding, has remarkable self-correcting and recuperative abilities. For just about every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction. When the Dow drops 777 points, as it did today, there are usually opportunistic investors waiting to swoop in and buy bargain stocks, thus driving the Dow back up again, along with all of our funds.

Now, I’m not naive. I’m not saying there is no bad in this situation. These kinds of precipitous drops are never good. All I’m saying is, every cloud has it’s silver lining. Don’t focus on the bad.

Wait for the good. It might take a while, but it’s coming. Your IRA or 401K will recover, as will the American economy.
